Danish Holstein and Messe C launch new international cattle exhibition in Fredericia
Nordic Dairy Expo will bring together the cattle industry for breeding, professionalism and trade - the first time will be in January 2027.
A new showcase for the best animals in the Danish cattle industry is now becoming a reality. Dansk Holstein and MESSE C in Fredericia launch Nordic Dairy Expo, which will be held for the first time on January 20, 2027.
Here, cows, heifers and genetics come into focus as exhibitors from all over the country come together to showcase their best animals. The public can get up close to the animals in the stables and follow the judging in the ring, where the cows are judged according to international standards.
Nordic Dairy Expo will be a spectacle with both competition, breeding and trade all combined in one day, with milk production at the center.
New meeting point for the industry
Danish Holstein wants to gather animals at a high level and give breeders a stage where they can showcase their work.
– We see a need in the industry for an event where dairy cattle and breeding work with Danish Holstein are at the center. With Nordic Dairy Expo we get a place where we can gather Danish breeders and producers and showcase genetics from its best side, says Nanna Hammershøj Christoffersen, head of Dansk Holstein.
She points out that there are already good traditions for animal shows in Denmark, but that a strong gathering point for a larger part of the country and northern Europe is missing. This is where the new collaboration with MESSE C in Fredericia comes into its own.
– There have been good events all around, but we have lacked a place where producers in particular in Southern and Eastern Denmark can easily participate. At the same time, Fredericia is well placed to also get German and Dutch colleagues involved, and we have an ambition that they will, she says and continues:
MESSE C also has strong knowledge of the industry through their experience with NutriFair, which already has a permanent and natural place in the calendar of both farmers and companies.
At MESSE C, Nordic Dairy Expo is seen as an obvious next step in the work of bringing together people from agriculture.
– Through NutriFair, we have had close contact with agriculture for many years, and this has given us a good insight into what it takes to bring the industry together. With Nordic Dairy Expo, we want to create a strong framework for an animal show where the animals and the professional content are at the center, says project manager Ida Brøgger Hahn, MESSE C.
Focus on professionalism and trade
The judging in the ring will be one of the professional highlights of the day. Here, the cows are assessed on exterior and overall appearance according to international standards, and the ambition is to collect top-class animals.
At the same time, the auction will be an important part of Nordic Dairy Expo, where the ambition is to create interest and engagement in the industry.
Danish Holstein is today the most widespread dairy breed in Denmark and internationally recognized for its high performance and strong breeding program. Nordic Dairy Expo will help support the breed's strong position in Northern Europe.
Nordic Dairy Expo is set to be an animal show where the best animals, competition in the ring and professional breeding work are at the center. You will also be able to experience companies relevant to the cattle industry, who will have stands set up for a parallel trade exhibition when the event takes place in Fredericia in January 2027.
